Job Description ( Project Manager )
WASH Project Manager will oversee the implementation of all support water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) in schools’ projects. This position should be supervisory and managerial responsibilities, including direct project management responsibilities for the WASH project.
Require 2-4 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Perform a variety of tasks. Lead and direct the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude. Reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Enhance department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
Responsibilities and key activities:
- Contribute to the identification of the needs of the community in WASH.
- Master the intervention criteria of the WASH in schools’ program.
- Train community intermediaries and local partners on good practices in the WASH field and how to conduct awareness raising aimed at the population on this subject.
- Ensure that each distribution of hygiene and NFI kits is accompanied by awareness-raising on their proper use.
- Engage with the community and community representatives to understand needs and gaps in Gender-based violence programming.
- Oversee and manage the implementation of the project ensuring that technical quality and standards are considered and respected during project(s) implementation.
- Ensure budget utilization and physical target achievements are reviewed at least twice a month as per work plan.
- Delegate project tasks based on junior staff members’ individual strengths, skill sets and experience levels.
- Ensure that project staff understand and are able to perform their roles and responsibilities.
- Ensure a positive working environment and good team dynamics.
- Ensure project records and documents (Flat files, beneficiary list, donation certificates, attendance sheets etc.) are adequately prepared, compiled and filed according to PEKAWA procedures.
- Assess the activities undertaken and provide regular and timely updates on progress and challenges to supervisors and other team members.
- Undertake regular field visits to provide technical guidance and supervision as well as regularly monitor the progress of project activities.
- Manage the relationship with the client and all stakeholders.
- Perform risk management to minimize project risks.
- Establish and maintain relationships with third parties/vendors.
- Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation.
- Identify opportunities to collaborate and coordinate efforts with other organizations to ensure our activities build upon rather than replicate the work of others.
- Ensure capacity building among staff in relevant sectors.
Minimum Qualifications
- University degree (BTS or license) or equivalent in public or environmental health, sociology, community development or education.
- Advances training/ course in psychology, gender studies, social work, PSEA, or related field.
- Have at least one year in the implementation of hygiene promotion activities.
- Have at least 1 year in an international NGO in a similar position.
- Have experience in community mobilization, training in the field of water and sanitation.
- Good knowledge and experience of working with local partner agencies and ability to provide training.
- Demonstrated experience in integrating gender and diversity issues in promoting environmental health.
- Have a high sense of organization, planning and compliance with execution schedules as well as good reporting skills.
- Good level in Arabic and English Language.
- Autonomy, critical thinking, and initiative.
- Proficiency in Word, Excel.
