Pekawa team has completed an assessment concerning medical waste management & treatment generated by IDPS and refugees in PHCs located in camps and in urban area near Erbil.
The Assessment of medical waste treatment methods took place from 15 October until 15th of December 2016 and it was conducted in four phases:
Phase 1: site visits and interviews to camps & PHCs in sub districts to the west of Erbil and east Ninawa
Phase 2: site visits to landfills in sub districts of Erbil and medical waste treatment facilities in Erbil
Phase 3: interviews with key people in DOH of Erbil.
Phase 4: research documents and regulations concerning medical waste treatment in Kurdistan.
